Dr. Sathyaprakash’s Clinic

In 2009, Nebulous Design undertook the exciting project of designing a clinic for Dr. Satyaprakash, a renowned gastroenterologist in Bangalore. The Principal Architect recognized the importance of comprehending the doctor’s specialized field and his requirement for utmost efficiency in handling a significant volume of patient procedures, averaging up to 30 per day. To accomplish this, in-depth discussions were conducted with Dr. Satyaprakash at his workspace in Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, ensuring a thorough understanding of his needs and goals.

The clinic was meticulously designed with a well-thought-out layout specifically tailored to meet the unique requirements of Dr. Satyaprakash. The basement area served multiple functions, providing ample parking space, storage facilities, and housing the electrical unit. On the first floor, there were two entrances—a main entrance and an additional entrance for convenient access to the emergency ward for ambulance arrivals. This floor encompassed three consulting doctor cabins, a common area, a reception area, a pharmacy, and a comfortable waiting lounge.

The first floor featured essential spaces such as the doctor’s personal chamber, two examination rooms, an operation theater, a scrub room, a spacious recovery dormitory, and a dedicated common area. The interconnected design ensured that Dr. Satyaprakash could seamlessly move from one room to another, attending to patients without unnecessary detours through the common area. The third floor was dedicated to private recovery rooms, providing patients with a tranquil environment for recuperation. Finally, the terrace floor served as a residential space for nurses and also featured a cafeteria.

Strategic space planning was crucial in fulfilling the client’s needs, particularly in accommodating specialized equipment like the mobile X-Ray machine and strategically placing endoscopy machines. Our team achieved a comprehensive understanding of Dr. Satyaprakash’s requirements, including both design aspects and the efficient workflow necessary for his practice.
